Timothy P. Lang, Psy.D., ABPP, is the clinical director of SMPS, a private practice mental health clinic serving Austin and Albert Lea. Dr. Lang is a board certified licensed clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience in mental health assessment and intervention. This private practice opened in September of 2019.
Specialty services include diagnostic assessments for ADHD, Learning Disorders, Autism, PTSD, Dementia, and other mental health conditions such as Depression, Anxiety, Psychosis and Personality Disorders.
Please note that in many cases psychological testing is reimbursed poorly by many insurance carriers. Therefore, out of pocket testing fees are often required at the time of service.Dr. Lang has been a licensed practicing psychologist since 1999. He has served as an active-duty U.S. Army psychologist at the rank of Captain for 4 years and was deployed to Bosnia. He worked at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin, Minnesota from 1999 to 2019 as a staff psychologist. He worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings at Mayo, produced peer reviewed published research and developed the ADHD and Autism clinics in Austin. He is heavily involved in law enforcement wellness and pre-employment psychological assessments with the City of Albert Lea Police Department, Freeborn County Sheriff's Office, and the City of Austin Police Department. His specialties include psychological testing, therapy and shark fishing in Mexico.
Dr. Lang served 20 years as a clinical psychologist in Southern Minnesota, four years as an active-duty US Army clinical psychologist, and 2 years as a school psychologist in Wisconsin.
